As the 2019 NOWT season winds down, anglers gathered for the second time this year at the Mattagami First Nation for the 2019 MFN Fall Classic Walleye Tournament.
After a long and snowy winter, 242 anglers making up 121 teams gathered at the Mattagami First Nation for the first NOWT event of 2019.
Mattagami First Nation hosted their second NOWT tournament of the season this past weekend. Anglers continue to compete for Angler of the Year points to secure one of the top 25 spots reserved for the NOWT Championship being held in Geraldton June 2019.
Anglers were welcomed back to the Mattagami First Nation at the MFN Community Centre for the 2018 Mattagami First Nation Walleye Tournament, kickoff event of the NOWT.
Princecraft, Mercury Canada and J&B Cycle & Marine Co. Ltd. proudly announced they will sponsor the NOWT’s Championship Tournament with an amazing boat package valued over $50,000.00.
Well-known walleye angling team jumps from 19th place on Day 1 fishing to winning the tournament with a big bag on day 2.
Highly anxious anglers patiently waited for the fog to clear for a delayed start to the tournament. After a short wait, the horn sounded, and friendships were put on hold as anglers put on their competition faces and blasted off to catch the big ones.
MFN Ice Derby Anglers enticed monster pike to take their baits on February 25. The winning pike weighed in at almost 20 lbs.
