The 2016 Winter Pike Derby on Mattagami Lake welcomed over 175 ice anglers in search of the heaviest pike. The weather was a mixture of perfect temperature of -3 for most of the day, combined with steady 20 km/h + winds with gusts up to 35 km/h!
Didn’t matter to the participants! Here’s how turned out for the top 4:
1st Place – Paul Larue 13.45lbs $10,000
2nd Place – Deborah Pine 7.84lbs $4,000
3rd Place – Mark Jensen 5.45lbs $2,500
4th Place – Peter Gagnon 5.04lbs $1,400
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Mattagami Eagles Hockey Team.
